INVASION DEL FIN DEL MUNDO es un documental, que narra uno de los intentos mas ingenuos del hombre por querer alterar los ecosistemas en su beneficio. En 1940 veinte castores canadienses fueron introducidos en la isla de Tierra del Fuego, al sur de Argentina y Chile para el desarrollo de la industria peletera. El proyecto fallo y el castor, sin depredadores naturales, r\u00e1pidamente se expandi\u00f3 como plaga por otras islas de la regi\u00f3n alcanzando el numero de 150.000 individuos, causando la destrucci\u00f3n masiva de arboles y especies locales, amenazando todos los bosques y lagos de la Patagonia.<\/p><p>\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 los conservacionistas de la vida salvaje est\u00e1n convencidos de que hay que eliminar a los 150.000 animales inmediatamente? \u00bfY por qu\u00e9 algunos de los mas reconocidos especialistas en castores est\u00e1n convencidos de que la erradicaci\u00f3n es imposible y se oponen terminantemente a la matanza?<\/p><p>Todos concuerdan en que las especies invasoras representan la segunda causa en la perdida de biodiversidad y extinci\u00f3n de especies a nivel mundial. Estas fagocitan alimentos y recursos que las especies nativas necesitan para sobrevivir, amenazan la econom\u00eda y la salud del hombre.. Una vez que la especie invasora se asienta en la regi\u00f3n la erradicaci\u00f3n no es siempre posible.<\/p><p>Mientras tanto en Tierra del Fuego el turismo se aprovecha de la situaci\u00f3n: un hombre vestido de castor entrega panfletos promocionando uno de los mas famosos centros de esqu\u00ed, el cerro CASTOR, los cazadores reclaman subsidios, los cient\u00edficos siguen con sus
