In 1940 twenty Canadian beavers were introduced on the island of Tierra del Fuego, at the southern Patagonia in Argentina and Chile for the development of the fur industry. style=\"background-color: var( --e-global-color-9f78e94 );\">When a friend told us that there were more beavers than humans in southern Patagonia we couldn&#8217;t believe it. We realized that invasive species are one of the main causes of biodiversity loss in the world and we could not believe what we were hearing, once again. While researching we found out that there is a bi-national agreement between Argentina and Chile to eradicate the beavers from the islands and the mainland of &#8220;Tierra del Fuego&#8221; and that&#8217;s when we said to ourselves: we have to tell this story!<\/span><\/p><p>We started interviewing everyone related to the issue. We wanted to understand in depth what was going on. We ended our interviews with every biologist, animal advocate, scientist, educator, fur industrialist, veterinarian, etc. with the same question: Who else do you think we should talk to about this issue?<\/p><p>At one point there was no one left to interview. Then we called our friends from production, director of photography, sound and we went on an adventure to Tierra del Fuego to face our last interviewee: the beaver himself. The though part of making a beavers documentary<\/p><p>The documentary &#8220;Beavers: Patagonia Invaders&#8221; was shot in Buenos Aires and during several weeks in Ushuaia, inland Tierra del Fuego, Argentina &amp; Punta Arenas, Magallanes, Chile. Their films have participated in festivals such as BAFICI, Doc MX, CINE LATINO TOULOUSE, CINECIEN, FICMA, SHH, FIDBA, FECILBA, SUNCINE, MARATEALE, and PREMIO OEA, among others, winning several awards.
